The Sword of Truth series, as shown from its ratings, starts wonderfully and then becomes exasperating as the series drags and drags and drags on. The books are beautifully written; Terry Goodkind is a master of words and proves it. The first 5 books are definately worth reading. But if resolution is what the reader wants, I'm sorry, you are never going to get it. The series should have ended in 6 books at the most, but Goodkind ceaselessly drags it on writing the same book 15 different times just with different titles and absolutely no end in sight. The series has always been chocked full of Goodkind's philosophical yammerings and at first they are tolerable if not exciting, but as the series progresses the reader becomes exasperated with the lengthy 5 page philosophical rants that he/she has read before a thousand times in each book and the endless descriptions of how beautiful every single character that has ever been presented in any piece of his work is. Let it be noted --- I recommend this book, but I do not recommend the series.
In my opinion, the "Sword of Truth" series is definitely worth reading, and if some don't think so, perhaps they prefer something else. Terry did a good job and written great series, light and pleasant to read. I'm really glad that I've found the first book, and after that everything gone just smooth ;]
From my point it's a wonderful book, very good beginning of the series :]
