A definite classics of fantasy genre, with all its loses and benefits. An enormous world created from the basics by Tolkien is consistent in every detail and lives its own life. From the other hand, today, this novel may seem a bit typical, because main heroes are real heroes, not scum like is popular recently, but this is actually beautiful in this story. It's a tale where good is good and evil is evil. Is it worth reading? No, not worth, but it's needed, and necessarily!
I think the whole Tolkien's Trilogy is marvellous, and there are no other fantasy book like this. The Tolkien's world has unique atmosphere, which I didn't find anywhere else so far. I have returned to "The Lord of the Rings" many times, and each time I've found something new there.
I like Tolkien very much. "The Lord of the Rings" is a wonderful trilogy about adventures of the hobbits, the friendship being born between an elv and a dwarf, and about great courage of Aragorn to face his heritage.
