Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

A few days before his eleventh birthday, Harry Potter - a boy with a scar in the shape of a lightning on his forehaed and hair growing back in one night after cutting it - receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. What's even more strange, the letter makes his guardians panic and escape quickly from their home. But even when hiding on an island during a stormy night Harry is found by Rubeus Hagrid and from then on the boy's world changes into a series of adventures. Read the book, and you'll see what Hogwart is, how to play Quidditch, who the benign giant is, how to defeat a troll and to win a chess match with animated figures, and how it happens that on Harry's way stands the terror of all wizards' world - You know Who...

I'd been amazed by the film before I read this book. I thought it might be as good, before I started to read it. From first chapters I was impressed with the style and with a unique humor entangled everywhere, and all the details that were missing in the film. The film is great, but the book is undoubtly better.

I was very suspicious when I was starting the first volume of Harry Potter... In fact, I thought it is another story for children, maybe a bit longer one than usually.
Though the content of this book surprised my in very positive meaning :), and, as perheps anyone does, I like being surprised :). This is very catching book, you can read it in instant.
I have read it a few times so far, and now I'm waiting impatiently for the next volume :). This is obviously a book worth recommending :).

I've always dreamt about a bit of magic in the life... And here I come across Harry Potter. My first thought is - a nice fairy-tale for children, but then I read... from one chapter to another it grabs my attention more and more and suddenly I feel I can't stop reading it. It's brilliant, the atmosphere created by Mrs Rowling in her novel takes you into a completely different world. I return to this book for the fourth time, and never find it boring. It was a great idea to build a world of wizards, and giving it so much obviousness, that sometimes, when I pass people in the street, I wonder if they have wands and Bertie Bott's beans in their handbags :) I'm definitely a fan of the series, and I strongly recommend it to readers of all ages - contrary to appearances this is a very serious book and even older readers will do with a bit of relaxation and broomstick flying lessons... When you get to know Harry, nothing will ever be the same :)

The book that started my addiction with fantasy books. Watched the movie first and decided to check out the book. Very good choice on my behalf. Obviously great read! Recommend to all!
