I don't agree with opinion that the book is boring at the beginning, it's rather the opposite. First descriptions of events of Bastard are excellent and neatly written, there are no miracles there, except "understanding" or "power". The relationship with wolf is described beautifully. Though later, the author has lost her invention, so she started adding dragons and other weird stuff, turning the novel into ordinary low-grade fantasy.
